Engine overheats

Damaged radiator cap or dirty radiator core - Install new cap or clean radiator.
Lack of coolant in cooling system - Add coolant fluid and inspect the cooling system for leaks.
Fan belt is loose or defective - Change as required.
Insufficient engine oil - Add oil to the engine crankcase.
Worn cylinder head gasket - Cylinder-head gasket replacement required.
Injection timing is improper - Adjust injection timing as required.

Low oil pressure

Lack of oil - Check oil level and add oil as required.
Oil pump is worn or damaged - Check and replace if necessary.
Clogged oil filter - Replace or clean engine oil filter element.
Stuck or worn relief valve - Change or service relief valve.
Crankshaft bearing clearance is excessive - Test and repair or replace worn parts.
Crankpin bearing clearance is excessive - Test and repair or replace worn parts.

High engine oil consumption

Oil leakage: Gaskets or seals can be faulty - Replace to repair leaks.
Incorrect oil viscosity - Fill up with the correct oil viscosity.
Worn or broken piston rings - Change the piston rings as required.
Worn valve guides and valve stems - Valves must be replaced.
Cylinder liners or pistons are scuffed - Check liners and pistons, change as required.

Engine knocking or noise

Low coolant temperature - Warm up the engine.
Engine oil insufficient - Add oil to the engine crankcase.
Incorrect adjustment of fuel injection pump timing - Use the correct fuel injection pump timing adjustment.
Piston wear or scoring - Replace the pistons.
Connecting rod is worn or misaligned - Need to replace or align the connecting rod.

Starter turns slow

Battery voltage is low - Low battery charging, charge as required.
Battery won’t hold charge - Service charging system or install new battery.
Bad terminals or disconnected battery cables - Connect cables properly or replace terminals.

Starter motor is not working

Battery is low or faulty - Recharge or replace battery.
Battery cables are disconnected or incorrectly connected - Check cables and connect as needed.
Low battery voltage - Battery needs to be recharged.
Starter motor failing - Repair or replace starter.
