Engine starts but stalls immediately

Clogged fuel filter - Replace filter element.
Fuel injection pump is defective - Replace or repair injection pump.
Clogged air filter element - Service or replace the air filter.
Unadjusted nozzle opening pressure - Adjust as required.

Diesel shuts off while driving

Fuel injection timing is wrong - Set up as recommended.
Dirty fuel filter - Clean the filter or install new filter element.
Engine is not preheated - Warm up to required temperature.
Injection nozzles are burnt or jammed - Change or repair injection nozzles.

Engine stalls while idling

Improperly adjusted low idle speed - Adjust low idle speed.
Valve clearance is wrong - Correct valve clearance needs to be set.
Faulty fuel injection pump - Install a new pump or rebuild.

Engine loses power

Fuel injection nozzles are damaged or dirty - Replace injection nozzles.
Clogged fuel lines or hoses - Service fuel hoses and lines.
Air cleaner is dirty - Air filter maintenance required.
Worn cylinder head gasket - Install a new gasket.
Unadjusted injection timing - Adjust injection timing as required.
Fuel injection pump failure - Install a new pump or rebuild.
Any of moving engine components is faulty - Change or repair damaged parts.

Engine overheated

Dirty radiator fins or faulty radiator cap - Change cap or clean radiator.
Lack of coolant in cooling system - Refill to the correct level and inspect system for leaks.
Fan belt is worn or faulty - Install new fan belt.
Engine oil insufficient - Fill the crankcase with engine oil.
Cylinder head gasket is damaged - Install a new gasket.
Wrong injection timing - Adjust as recommended.

Low oil pressure

Low oil level - Fill crankcase to proper oil level.
Oil pump is defective - Replace as required.
Oil filter is clogged - Change or clean engine oil filter element.
Stuck or defective relief valve - Change or clean relief valve.
Excessive crankshaft bearing clearance - Inspect and replace or repair faulty components.
Excessive oil clearance of crankpin bearing - Test and repair or replace worn parts.

Diesel engine consuming too much oil

External oil leaks: Damaged seals or gaskets - Change worn parts according to specifications.
Oil viscosity is incorrect - Fill up with the correct oil viscosity.
Piston rings are defective or worn - Change piston rings.
Valve stems or guides are damaged - Replace defective valves.
Damaged pistons or cylinder liners - Check liners and pistons, replace as required.

Engine noises or knocks

Engine is not preheated - Warm up engine as required.
Engine oil level low - Check and refill engine oil.
Improper setting of fuel injection pump timing - Adjust as recommended.
Scored or worn pistons - Replace the pistons as required.
Connecting rod is misaligned or worn - Alignment procedure or replacement is required.

Starter turns slowly

Low battery output - Charge the battery.
Battery will not hold charge - Service or replace the battery.
Disconnected wiring or bad battery terminals - Check wire connections and change or service terminals.

Starter is not working

Battery is low or faulty - Change or recharge battery.
Wiring is improperly connected or disconnected - Check wiring and connect properly.
Low battery output - Charge the battery.
Faulty starter motor - Repair or replace starter.
