Suzuki DF6 Troubleshooting
The Suzuki DF6 is a 4-stroke 1-cylinder OHV (overhead valve) water-cooled gasoline outboard engine with a rated power of 6 hp (4.4 kW) at 4750-5750 rpm. The engine cylinder bore is 2.44" (62 mm) and piston stroke is 1.81" (46 mm). A 8.4 cubic inches (138 cc) outboard motor has a wet sump lubrication system with trochoid pump, carburetor fuel system, starting system with recoil starter, pointless electronic ignition system, manual tilt and tiller handle steering. The fuel tank capacity is 0.4 gal (1.5 liters). The propeller is made of aluminum and it has three blades.

Closed or restricted fuel tank air vent - Open or clean air vent.
Fuel pump malfunction - Repair or change fuel pump.
Throttle cable is damaged or adjusted incorrectly - Replace cable or adjust correctly.
Valve clearance is wrong - Adjustment procedure required.
Wrong valve timing - Set the valve timing correctly.

Defective spark plug - Change spark plug.
Carburetor is clogged or defective - Clean or install new carburetor.
Defective ignition coil - Change ignition coil as required.
Fuel tank air vent restricted or closed - Open or clean air vent.
Defective fuel pump - Install new pump or repair it.
Faulty choke system - Change choke system components as required.
Excessive valve clearance - Need to adjust valve clearance.
Valve timing is incorrect - Set the valve timing correctly.
Broken or bad valve springs - Replace valve springs.
Stuck valves - Valves must be cleaned.

Insufficient engine oil - Fill the crankcase with engine oil.
Faulty oil pump - Replace oil pump.
Clogged water intake - Clean and wash as required.
Valve setting is incorrect - Adjust valves as required.

Powerhead parts are worn out - Replace defective parts.
Burned or stuck valves - Replace or clean valves.
Propeller selection improperly - Install correct propeller.
Damaged or bent propeller - Replace propeller.
Engine mounted at wrong transom height - Adjust the engine to correct transom height.
Incorrect trim angle - Adjust trim angle correctly.

Loose or faulty spark plug - Re-tighten or replace spark plug.
Worn rings, piston, or sleeve - Replace defective parts.

Propeller shaft damaged - Replace propeller shaft.
Weeds clogs the propeller - Clean the propeller.
Engine mounting bolt is not tightened - Tighten the bolt as required.
Loose or faulty steering pivot Tighten correctly or replace.
