Engine starts up hard or doesn't start |
Fuel filter plugging - Replace the filter element.
Air trapped in fuel system - Bleed air.
Clogged or burnt injection nozzle - Test injection nozzles and change if necessary.
Damaged fuel injection pump - Rebuild or install a new injection pump.
Wrong valve timing - Set the valve timing correctly.
Restricted fuel pipes - Service or replace fuel pipes.
Incorrect injection timing - Check injection timing adjustment.
Excessive wear of piston rings and cylinder - Change faulty parts.
Engine starts but then stops |
Dirty fuel filter - Replace the filter element.
Fuel injection pump is defective - Change or repair the pump.
Clogged air filter element - Replace air filter element.
Nozzle opening pressure is not adjusted - Set up as recommended.
Diesel shuts off while driving |
Improper fuel injection timing - Adjust fuel injection pump as required.
Fuel filter element clogging - Install new filter element.
Engine is cold - Warm up to required temperature.
Defective or stuck injection nozzles - Clean or change injection nozzles.
Engine stalls while idle |
Incorrect low idle speed adjustment - Normalize low idle speed.
Improper valve clearance - Adjust valve clearance according to specifications.
Fuel injection pump failure - Repair or change injection pump.
Engine power is reduced |
Defective or clogged injection nozzle - Replace injection nozzles.
Clogged fuel hoses or lines - Clean fuel hoses and lines.
Plugged air cleaner - Air filter maintenance required.
Defective cylinder head gasket - Cylinder-head gasket replacement required.
Unadjusted injection timing - Adjust as recommended.
Fuel injection pump is broken - Repair or install new pump.
One of moving engine components is worn - Replace or repair damaged components.
Engine overheats |
Clogged radiator core or damaged radiator cap - Clean radiator or replace cap.
Coolant level is low - Add coolant and check the components of cooling system.
Fan belt slipping or worn - Replace as required.
Engine oil level is low - Fill up the oil to required level.
Defective cylinder head gasket - Change cylinder head gasket.
Wrong injection timing - Set up as recommended.
Low oil pressure |
Oil level is low - Fill the crankcase with oil.
Oil pump is defective - Repair or change.
Clogged oil filter element - Service or change engine oil filter element.
Worn or dirty relief valve - Change or service relief valve.
Excessive crankshaft bearing clearance - Test and repair or replace worn parts.
Excessive oil clearance of crankpin bearing - Inspect and replace or repair faulty parts.
Diesel engine using too much oil |
Oil leaking: Seals or gaskets are defective - Worn parts need to be replaced.
Wrong oil viscosity - Use oil of correct viscosity.
Piston rings are seized or worn - Replace piston rings.
Valve guides and stems are worn - Change the valves.
Damaged cylinder liners or pistons - Check liners and pistons, install new components as required.
Abnormal engine knocking or noise |
Engine is not preheated - Warm up to required temperature.
Low engine oil level - Fill up the engine oil.
Wrong setting of fuel injection pump timing - Set it up as required.
Worn or scored pistons - Install new pistons.
Connecting rod failure or misalignment - Replace or align connecting rod.
Starter turns slowly |
Low battery capacity - Battery is drained, charge it.
Battery won’t hold charge - Service or change the battery.
Faulty battery terminals or disconnected cables - Connect wires correctly or change terminals.
Starter is not working |
Battery is drained or defective - Battery needs to be recharged or replaced.
Wiring is incorrectly connected or disconnected - Inspect wiring and connect correctly.
Low battery power - Recharge the battery.
Faulty starter motor - Starter should be changed.
