Toyota 1JZ-GTE Troubleshooting

Engine will not start or difficult to start

Empty fuel tank - Fill it up.
Wrong grade of gasoline - Change fuel.
Water or air in fuel system - Remove air or water from system.
Disconnected or loose spark plug wire - Check spark plug wiring connection, repair or change.
Spark plug is defective - Spark plug need to be replaced.
Ignition failure - Check ignition and replace faulty components.
Plugged fuel filter - Install new filter.
Dirty fuel lines - Clean fuel lines.
Fuel pump is damaged or dirty - Check fuel pump and change if required.
Dirty or damaged fuel injectors - Check fuel injectors and change if required.

Rough engine running

Ignition system problems - Check ignition and replace faulty components.
Air filter element is plugged - Change or service air filter.
Defective spark plug - Replace spark plug.
Fuel pump is defective or dirty - Clean or change fuel pump.
Improper valve clearance - Adjust valve clearance according to specifications.

Engine starts and stops immediately
