Engine difficult to start or won't start |
Fuel filter element is clogged - Change filter element.
Air in the fuel lines - Bleed the fuel lines.
Fuel injection nozzles are dirty or defective - Change fuel injection nozzles.
Fuel injection pump is not working correctly - Change or repair the pump.
Valve timing is wrong - Use correct valve timing adjustment.
Fuel pipes are plugged - Service or change fuel pipes.
Injection timing is wrong - Adjust injection timing as required.
Damaged piston rings and cylinder - Change defective parts.
Engine starts but immediately stalls |
Fuel filter element clogging - Clean or replace the filter.
Faulty fuel injection pump - Rebuild or change fuel pump.
Air filter is dirty - Clean or replace element.
Nozzle opening pressure is incorrect - Adjust according to specifications.
Engine stalls during operation |
Improper setting of fuel injection pump timing - Use the correct fuel injection pump timing adjustment.
Fuel filter plugged - Clean or replace the filter.
Engine not warmed up - Warm up the engine.
Injection nozzles are burnt or jammed - Service or change injection nozzles.
Engine stalling at idle |
Incorrectly adjusted low idle speed - Test and adjust.
Valve clearance is out of adjustment - Correct valve clearance.
Fuel injection pump malfunction - Replacement or repair required.
Engine power loss |
Clogged or burnt injection nozzle - Clean or change injection nozzles.
Clogged fuel lines or hoses - Fuel hoses and lines must be clean.
Intake air restriction - Clean or replace the element.
Worn cylinder head gasket - Replace cylinder head gasket.
Injection timing is incorrect - Adjust as recommended.
Fuel injection pump is damaged - Rebuild or replace pump.
Any of moving engine parts is worn - Repair or replace defective components.
Engine overheating |
Defective radiator cap or clogged radiator core - Replace cap or clean radiator.
Engine has a lack of coolant - The cooling system needs to be refilled and checked for faults.
Fan belt is broken or worn - Belt change is required.
Engine oil level low - Checking oil level and add if necessary.
Defective cylinder head gasket - Replace cylinder head gasket.
Injection timing is incorrect - Adjust injection timing as required.
Oil pressure is low |
Low oil level - Check oil level and add oil as required.
Oil pump is defective - Repair or replace.
Oil filter is clogged - Service or change engine oil filter element.
Stuck or worn relief valve - Replace or clean relief valve.
Clearance of crankshaft bearing is excessive - Check and replace or repair defective parts.
Crankpin bearing clearance is excessive - Check and replace or repair defective parts.
High oil consumption |
Oil leaking: Gaskets or seals may be damaged - Defective components must be replaced.
Wrong oil viscosity - Use oil of correct viscosity.
Piston rings are stuck or worn - Change piston rings.
Damaged valve stems or valve guides - Install new valves.
Cylinder liners or pistons are scored - Inspect pistons and liners, replace as required.
Engine knocking sound or abnormal noise |
Engine is not preheated - Normalize the temperature by warming up the engine.
Low engine oil level - Fill up the oil to required level.
Fuel injection pump timing is wrong - Set it up as required.
Worn or broken pistons - Install new pistons.
Connecting rod misalignment or failure - Alignment procedure or replacement is required.
Starter motor cranks slow |
Low battery output - Battery needs to be recharged.
Battery will not hold charge - Battery needs service or replacement.
Wires are disconnected or battery terminals are corroded - Check wiring connections and replace or clean terminals.
Starter will not crank |
Battery is low or faulty - Recharge or replace battery.
Wiring is incorrectly connected or disconnected - Inspect wiring and connect correctly.
Low battery voltage - Battery is drained, recharge it.
Faulty starter motor - Starter should be changed.
