Toyota 2F Troubleshooting

Engine starts hard or will not start

Gas tank is empty - Add gasoline.
Wrong grade of gasoline - Use quality gasoline.
Air in fuel system - Bleed fuel system.
Defective wiring connection of spark plug - Inspect spark plug wiring connection, change or repair.
Faulty spark plug - Change spark plug as required.
Ignition system problems - Check ignition and replace faulty components.
Clogged fuel filter - Install new filter.
Clogged fuel lines - Clean fuel lines.
Fuel pump is faulty or clogged - Clean or replace fuel pump.
Carburetor is dirty - Wash, clean and adjust.
Low compression - Check and replace worn parts.

Engine runs irregularly

Ignition system is defective - Inspect ignition system and change failed components.
Dirty air filter element - Clean or replace.
Spark plug is defective - Change spark plug as required.
Fuel pump is clogged or faulty - Clean or change fuel pump.
Excessive valve clearance - Adjustment procedure required.
Ignition timing is improper - Adjust ignition timing correctly.
Incorrectly set low idle speed - Adjust idle speed.

Engine starts but immediately stops

Faulty spark plug - Change spark plug as required.

Engine oil consumption is too high

Engine backfires
