Engine hard to start or will not start |
Fuel filter plugged - Service or replace the filter.
Air in fuel tank - Bleed fuel tank.
Defective or clogged injection nozzle - Service or change injection nozzles.
Defective fuel injection pump - Replace or rebuild injection pump.
Wrong valve timing - Correct or replace timing gear.
Clogged fuel pipes - Service or change fuel pipes.
Unadjusted injection timing - Set up as recommended.
Damaged piston rings and cylinder - Replace defective components.
Diesel starts and stalls immediately |
Fuel filter plugging - Change filter element.
Fuel injection pump is not working correctly - Repair or change injection pump.
Plugged air filter - Clean air cleaner element.
Unadjusted nozzle opening pressure - Adjust according to specifications.
Diesel shuts off while driving |
Improper setting of fuel injection pump timing - Use the correct fuel injection pump timing adjustment.

Engine overheats |
Radiator core is dirty or radiator cap is damaged - Clean radiator or install new cap.
Engine has a lack of coolant - Add coolant fluid to cooling system and also check it for leaks.
Fan belt is broken or worn - Replace the fan belt.
Insufficient engine oil - Fill the crankcase with engine oil.
Cylinder head gasket is damaged - Replace cylinder head gasket.
Improper injection timing - Set up as recommended.
Oil pressure is insufficient |
Insufficient engine oil - Add oil to the engine crankcase.
Oil pump malfunction - Replace as required.
Clogged oil filter element - Service or change engine oil filter element.
Worn or dirty relief valve - Replace or clean relief valve.
Excessive crankshaft bearing clearance - Check and replace or repair defective parts.
Excessive oil clearance of crankpin bearing - Test and repair or replace worn parts.
High engine oil consumption |
Oil leaking: Worn seals or gaskets - To repair leaks, replace worn parts.
Oil viscosity is wrong - Use oil of correct viscosity.
Piston rings are seized or worn - Have piston rings replaced.
Damaged valve stems or valve guides - Valves must be replaced.
Cylinder liners or pistons are worn - Inspect liners and pistons, change as necessary.
Engine knocks or noises |
Coolant temperature is low - Warm up the engine.
Insufficient engine oil - Fill up the engine oil.
Incorrect adjustment of fuel injection pump timing - Check the fuel injection pump timing adjustment.
Worn or scored pistons - Install new pistons.
Misaligned or defective connecting rod - Replace or align connecting rod.
Starter motor turns slow |
Battery capacity is low - Charge the battery.
Battery is draining quickly - Service battery or change it.
Disconnected battery cables or bad terminals - Check battery wires and service or replace terminals.
Starter does not work |
Battery is low or faulty - Charge or replace the battery.
Wire harness is disconnected or incorrectly connected - Check wire harness and connect as required.
Battery power is low - Battery needs to be recharged.
Defective starter motor - Starter should be replaced.
