Toyota 2T-G Engine Specifications
The Toyota 2T-G is a 1.6 liter (1,588 cc, 96.9 cubic inches)
straight-four, four-stroke carburetor gasoline engine from Toyota
T-family. The Toyota 2T-G engine was produced from 1970 through 1975.
This engine used DOHC (dual overhead camshafts) design with two valves
per cylinder (8 valves in total), cast-iron cylinder block and an alloy
cylinder head with hardened valve seats and a hemispherical combustion
chamber design (HEMI). The 2T-G engine utilizes a timing chain.
Bore and stroke are 85.0 mm (3.35 in) and 70.0 mm (2.76 in).
The 2T-G engine has a twin sidedraft 40 mm (1.6 in) Mikuni-Solex PHH
carburetors and produced 115.6 PS (85 kW; 114 HP) at 6,400 rpm of
horsepower and 142 Nm (14.5 kgm; 104.8 ft-lb) at 5,200 rpm of peak
torque. Compression ratio rating is 9.8:1.
The 2T-GR is like the prementioned 2T-G, but with the lower compression
ratio rating of 8.8:1. That “R” stands for Regular gasoline, and that is
the reason for the lower compression. This engine produced 110 PS (82
kW; 112 HP) at 6,000 rpm of horsepower and 140 Nm (14.0 kgm; 104 ft-lb)
at 4,800 rpm of peak torque.
Engine code identification:
2 - 2nd generation engine
T - Engine family
G - Performance wide-angle DOHC
