Toyota 2VZ-FE Troubleshooting

Engine starts up hard or won't start

No fuel in fuel tank - Add fuel.
Wrong fuel grade - Use correct fuel grade.
Clogged fuel system - Remove clogging.
Spark plug wire is disconnected or loose - Inspect spark plug wiring connection, change or repair.
Defective spark plug - Spark plug need to be replaced.
Defective ignition system - Test ignition and replace failed parts.
Clogged fuel filter - Replace fuel filter.
Dirt in the fuel lines - Clean fuel system lines.
Fuel pump is dirty or defective - Clean or replace fuel pump.
Clogged or damaged fuel injectors - Test fuel injectors and replace if necessary.
Poor compression - Inspect and replace wear parts.

Engine runs intermittently

Ignition system failure - Inspect ignition system and change failed components.
Dirty air filter element - Clean or replace air filter.
Spark plug is damaged - Spark plug need to be replaced.
Clogged or defective fuel pump - Check fuel pump and replace if necessary.
Valve clearance is incorrect - Adjustment procedure required.
Incorrect ignition timing - Set the ignition timing correctly.
Improperly adjusted low idle speed - Test and adjust.

Engine starts but stalls immediately

Defective spark plug - Install new spark plug.
Fuel injectors are damaged or dirty - Test fuel injectors and change if necessary.

Fuel pump is clogged or faulty - Check fuel pump and change if required.

High oil consumption
