Diesel hard to start or doesn't start |
Fuel filter element is clogged - Replace the filter element.
Air in fuel tank - Bleed fuel tank.
Clogged or defective injection nozzles - Clean or replace injection nozzles.
Defective fuel injection pump - Rebuild or replace pump.
Wrong valve timing - Correct or replace timing gear.
Fuel pipes clogging - Clean or replace fuel pipes.
Improper injection timing - Set the injection timing correctly.
Worn piston rings and cylinder - Replace faulty components.
Diesel starts and stops |
Fuel filter plugged - Clean or replace the filter.
Fuel injection pump is not operating properly - Change pump or rebuild it.
Air filter is dirty - Air filter maintenance required.
Nozzle opening pressure is incorrect - Adjust as recommended.
Diesel shuts off while driving |
Fuel injection timing is not adjusted - Set up as recommended.
Fuel filter element is clogged - Install new filter element.
Low coolant temperature - Normalize the temperature by warming up the engine.
Stuck or clogged injection nozzle - Repair or replace injection nozzles.
Engine stalls while idle |
Low idle speed set incorrectly - Adjust low idling as recommended.

Fuel injection nozzles are faulty or clogged - Install a new kit of correctly balanced nozzles.
Restricted fuel hoses or lines - Clean fuel system lines and hoses.
Air filter plugged - Clean or change.
Worn cylinder head gasket - Install a new gasket.
Wrong injection timing - Set the injection timing correctly.
Fuel injection pump malfunctioning - Rebuild or change fuel pump.
One of moving engine parts is faulty - Change or repair damaged parts.
Engine overheats |
Dirty radiator core or defective radiator cap - Change cap or clean radiator.
Coolant level is low - The cooling system needs to be refilled and checked for faults.
Excessive wear of the fan belt - Change as required.
Engine oil level low - Need to add engine oil.
Leaking cylinder head gasket - Replace cylinder head gasket.
Incorrect injection timing - Use correct injection timing adjustment.
Oil pressure is low |
Insufficient engine oil - Fill crankcase to proper oil level.
Oil pump failure - Inspect and change as required.
Dirty oil filter element - Replace or clean engine oil filter element.
Relief valve is defective or dirty - Change or clean relief valve.
Clearance of crankshaft bearing is excessive - Test and replace or repair worn components.
Crankpin bearing clearance is excessive - Check and change or repair defective parts.
High engine oil consumption |
Oil leaking: Worn seals or gaskets - Worn parts need to be replaced.
Incorrect oil viscosity - Use correct viscosity oil.
Piston rings are seized or worn - Have piston rings replaced.
Valve stems and guides are worn - Replace defective valves.
Cylinder liners or pistons are damaged - Check liners and pistons, install new components as required.
Engine knocks or noises |
Coolant temperature is low - Normalize the temperature by warming up the engine.
Not enough engine oil - Fill up the engine oil.
Improper fuel injection timing - Adjust fuel injection pump as required.
Pistons are scored or worn - Replace the pistons.
Connecting rod is worn or not aligned - Connecting rod needs to be replaced or aligned.
Starter cranks slowly |
Low battery output - Low battery charging, charge as required.
Battery won’t hold charge - Service or change the battery.
Battery terminals are corroded or wires are disconnected - Check cables and clean or change terminals.
Starter will not work |
Battery is discharged or defective - Recharge or replace battery.
Battery cables are disconnected or incorrectly connected - Check cables and connect as needed.
Low battery output - Recharge the battery.
Starter motor is defective - Repair or change starter.
