Clogged fuel filter - Clean the filter element.
Air in the fuel lines - Bleed the fuel lines.

Low engine oil level - Check oil level and add oil as required.
Cylinder head gasket is worn - Install a new gasket.
Injection timing is wrong - Adjust injection timing as required.

Oil viscosity is wrong - Use proper viscosity oil.
Worn or stuck piston rings - Piston rings replacement required.
Worn valve guides and valve stems - Install new valves.
Scuffed pistons or cylinder liners - Check liners and pistons, replace as required.
| Abnormal engine knocking or noise |
Engine is not fully warmed up - Normalize the temperature by warming up the engine.
Not enough engine oil - Add oil to the engine crankcase.
Timing of fuel injection pump is incorrect - Set it up as required.
Pistons are broken or worn - Replace the pistons as required.
