Engine starts hard or won't start |
Clogged fuel filter - Change the filter element.
Air in the fuel system - Air bleeding.
Damaged or dirty injection nozzles - Clean or replace injection nozzles.
Faulty fuel injection pump - Install a new fuel pump or repair.
Wrong valve timing - Correct or change timing gear.
Fuel pipes are dirty - Service fuel pipes.

Diesel starts and suddenly stops |

Engine overheats |
Defective radiator cap or clogged radiator fins - Change cap or clean radiator.
Engine has a lack of coolant - Add coolant fluid to cooling system and also check it for leaks.
Fan belt is loose or defective - If necessary, replace the belt.
Lack of engine oil - Fill up the oil to required level.
Cylinder head gasket is defective - Gasket should be replaced.
Injection timing is incorrect - Adjust injection timing as required.
Oil pressure is insufficient |
Oil level is insufficient - Check and refill the oil.
Worn oil pump - Remove and inspect oil pump.
Oil filter element clogging - Replace or service engine oil filter.
Relief valve is defective or dirty - Replace or clean relief valve.
Clearance of crankshaft bearing is excessive - Inspect and change or repair worn components.
Crankpin bearing clearance is excessive - Test and repair or replace worn parts.
Diesel engine consuming too much oil |
Oil leaking: Seals or gaskets are wearing excessively - Worn parts need to be replaced.
Incorrect oil viscosity - Use oil of correct viscosity.
Worn or broken piston rings - Replace piston rings.
Valve guides or stems are damaged - Change the valves.
Worn cylinder liners or pistons - Check pistons and liners, replace as required.
Engine knocks or noises |
Low coolant temperature - Warm up the engine.
Not enough engine oil - Fill up the engine oil.
Fuel injection pump timing is not adjusted - Adjust according to specifications.
Worn or scored pistons - Pistons need to be replaced.
Connecting rod is defective or misaligned - Connecting rod must be aligned or replaced.
Starter turns slowly |
Low battery voltage - Battery needs to be recharged.
Battery drains quickly - Service charging system or change battery.
Disconnected cables or faulty battery terminals - Connect cables correctly or replace terminals.
Starter does not work |
Battery is discharged or defective - Recharge or change battery.
Disconnected or incorrectly connected wires - Inspect battery wires and connect correctly.
Battery power is low - Recharge the battery.
Starter motor failure - Repair or change starter.
