4-cycle vertical-shaft V-twin cylinder air-cooled gasoline engine and Kanzaki
Tuff Torq HD K46 belt-driven hydrostatic transmission with infinite forward and
reverse gears.
A 44.2 cubic inches (724 cc) engine has a cylinder bore of 3.12" (79
mm), piston stroke of 2.89" (73 mm), rated power of 26 hp (19.4 kW), and
56.4 Nm (41.8 lb-ft) of peak torque at 2400 rev/min.
Max travel speed (forward/reverse): 5.5 mph (8.8 km/h) and 3.2 mph (5.1
km/h). The John Deere D170 is equipped with a manual steering system,
mechanical shoe brakes, 16x6.50-6 front tires, and 22x9.50-12 rear
tires. The wheelbase is 49" (1240 mm). The tractor is compatible with
the following attachments: a 54" mid-mount 3-blade mower deck with
cutting height of 1.0-4.0" (25-102 mm), 13 cut positions, and mechanical
lift with assist spring, 46" front blade with lift height of 6.5" (160
mm), and 44" front-mount two-stage snowblower with clearing height of
