The engine has a float fixed main jet carburetor, diaphragm type pulse
pump, full pressure lubrication, and semi-cyclone air cleaner with dual
element. Max. travel speed (forward and reverse): 5.2 mph (8.4 km/h) /
2.3 mph (3.7 km/h).
The lawn tractor was equipped with a manual sector and pinion steering,
mechanical band brakes, 15x6.00-6 front tires, and 20x10.00-8 rear
tires. The wheel base is 46 inches (1160 mm). The John Deere LX172 is
compatible with the following attachments: a 38" mid-mount 2-blade mower
deck with cutting height of 1.5-4" (38-102 mm) and manual lift, or 38",
42" front-mount single-stage snowblowers with mechanical lifting system.
