The John Deere X117R is a 2-wheel drive lawn tractor from X100 series. This model was manufactured from 2021 to 2025. The driveline consists of 30.5 cu.in (500 cc) Briggs and Stratton 31R977 Intek 4-cycle single cylinder OHV vertical shaft air-cooled gasoline engine with a rated power of 14.5 Hp (10.8 kW), and belt-driven hydrostatic transmission with infinite forward and reverse gears.

The John Deere X117R is equipped with a manual steering system, mechanical PTO clutch, disc brakes, 15x6.00-6 front tires, and 18x8.50-8 rear tires. The operating weight is 516 lbs (234 kg). Worn or defective parts of the hydrostatic transmission - After disassembly and inspection, replace defective components
Difficult shifting

Lack of power

Mower Deck Troubleshooting
Mower vibrates too much
Drive sheave of mower deck is dirty or worn - Change or clean sheave
Loose or defective drive belt - Adjust belt tension or install a new belt
Bent or unbalanced cutting blades - Replace or balance blades
Blade bolts are not tightened well - Bolts need to be tightened
Discharge chute is constantly plugged
Fast mowing speed - Need to slow down
Tall grass - Adjust mower to lower cutting height

Electrical Troubleshooting
Battery won’t charge
Loose or corroded electrical wiring connections - Clean or tighten connections
Faulty battery terminal clamps - Install new terminal clamps
Defective battery - Replace the battery
Starter motor cranks slow
Low battery power - Battery is drained, recharge it
Battery runs out quickly - Battery needs service or replacement
Wires are disconnected or battery terminals are corroded - Check battery wires and service or replace terminals
Starter motor is not working
Battery is drained or worn - Recharge or change battery
Battery wires are disconnected or incorrectly connected - Check wires and connect correctly
Low battery output - Battery needs to be recharged
Faulty or incorrectly gapped spark plug - Clean and gap or replace
Solenoid or starter motor failure - Starter/solenoid should be replaced
