John Deere X167 Troubleshooting

The John Deere X167 is a 2-wheel drive lawn tractor from X100 series. This model was manufactured from 2021 to 2025. The driveline consists of 44.2 cu.in (724 cc) Briggs and Stratton 44N677 4-cycle V-twin cylinder OHV vertical shaft air-cooled gasoline engine with a rated power of 20.1 Hp (15 kW), and belt-driven hydrostatic transmission with infinite forward and reverse gears.

The John Deere X167 is equipped with a manual steering system, electric PTO clutch, disc brakes, 16x6.50-8 front tires, and 22x9.50-12 rear tires. The operating weight is 503 lbs (228 kg). The John Deere X167 tractor is compatible with the following attachments: 48" mid-mount 3-blade mower deck with a mechanical lift system, 44" front-mount one-stage snow blower, and 46" front blade.

Mower Deck Troubleshooting
Mower vibrates excessively
Drive pulley of mower deck is damaged or dirty - Replace or service pulley
Loose or worn drive belt - Change belt or adjust belt tension
Mower blades are warped or not balanced - Balance blades or replace it
Blade mounting bolts are loose - Bolts need to be tightened
Constant clogging of discharge chute
Fast ground speed - Select a lower speed
Tall grass - Use a lower cutting height

Starter motor cranks slow
Low battery voltage - Battery needs to be recharged
Battery runs out quickly - Service battery or change it
Disconnected cables or faulty battery terminals - Connect wires correctly or change terminals
Starter will not work
Battery is discharged or worn - Need to charge or replace the battery
Disconnected or improperly connected wiring harness - Inspect battery wiring harness and connect as required
Battery capacity is low - Battery is drained, charge it
Faulty or incorrectly gapped spark plug - Clean, gap or replace spark plug
Starter motor or solenoid is damaged - Starter/solenoid should be replaced
