Cat 420E Backhoe Loader
The
Caterpillar 420E is a 2WD or 4WD backhoe loader. This model was manufactured
between 2006 and 2015. The Cat 420E is powered by Caterpillar 3054C DIT
four-cylinder direct injection turbocharged diesel engine with a maximum power
of 93 hp (69 kw) and 386 Nm (285 lb-ft) of peak torque at 1400 rpm.
The Caterpillar 420E is fitted with 2 types of transmission with
single-stage torque converter. Type 1: 4x4 power shuttle transmission.
Type 2: auto-shift transmission with 5 forward and 3 reverse gears. Max.
travel speed (forward or reverse): 24.9 mph (40.1 km/h).
The closed center load sensing hydraulic system includes a variable
displacement axial piston pump with rated capacity of 43 gal/min (163
l/min). The main relief pressure is 249 bar (3611 psi). The 2-wheel
drive models are equipped with 11Lx16 front tires and 19.5Lx24 rear
tires. The 335/80R18 front tires and 19.5LxR24 rear tires are used for
models with 4-wheel drive.
The loader has a breakout force of 10401 lbs (4728 kg), and a lift
capacity (at bucket pin) of 6475 lbs (2937 kg) to maximum height of 11
ft 1 in (3368 mm) for 4WD models, or 10 ft 10 in (3296 mm) for 2WD
models. The clearance with bucket dumped is 8 ft 7 in (2604 mm) at max
dump angle of 44 degrees. The 89-in general purpose bucket has a heaped
capacity of 28.4 cu.ft (0.81 m3).
The backhoe with extendable stick has a bucket dig force of 13863 lbs
(6300 kg) and dipperstick digging force of 7023 lbs (3192 kg). The max
digging depth is 17 ft 11 in (5456 mm), and 2-ft digging depth is 17 ft
10 in (5420 mm). The backhoe is compatible with 12", 18", 24", 30", 36"
standard material buckets, 12", 16", 18", 24", 30", 36" heavy-duty
material buckets, and 18", 24", 30", 36" soil excavation buckets.
