Ford 555 Backhoe Loader
The
Ford 555 is a two-wheel drive backhoe loader. This model was manufactured from
1978 to 1984. The Ford 555 is powered by 201 cubic inches three-cylinder
liquid-cooled diesel engine with a rated power of 62 hp (46.2 kilowatt) and 217
Hm (160 lb-ft) of max torque at 1200 rev/min.
The Ford 555 is equipped with two transmission options: 4x4 transmission
with a torque converter, or 6x4 unsynchronized gear transmission with a
manual reverse. Max. travel speed (forward and reverse): 20.2 mph (32.5
kph). The open center hydraulic system includes a gear pump with rated
capacity of 27 gal/min (102.3 l/min). The main relief pressure is 148
bar (2150 psi).
The Ford 555 is equipped with 7.50x16 or 9.00x16 front tyres and 16.9x24
or 16.9x28 rear tyres. The front end loader has a max lift height of
129" (3270 mm) at pin, and bucket dump clearance of 105" (2660 mm). The
lift capacity is 4700 lbs (2130 kg) to a max height at pin, and boom
breakout force is 9800 lbs (4445 kg). The rated cycle times are 4.7
seconds raising to maximum height, and 1.6 seconds maximum bucket
dumping. The 84" standard material bucket has a nominal heaped capacity
of 1.0 cu.yd (0.80 m3).
The backhoe can dig to a maximum depth of 185" (4690 mm). The bucket
cylinder has a digging force of 9735 lbs (4415 kg), and crowd cylinder
has a digging force of 6920 lbs (3140 kg). The overall reach from swing
pivot is 231" (5860 mm) at ground line. The backhoe can be fitted with
12", 18", 24", and 36" buckets.
