Ford 655A Backhoe Loader
The
Ford 655A backhoe loader was manufactured between 1985 and 1988. The Ford 655A
powerline system components: a 4.2L (256 cu.in) 4-cylinder direct injection
liquid-cooled diesel engine, 4x4 partial synchronized transmission, and single
stage torque converter with 2.78:1 torque ratio. The diesel engine output power
is 72 hp (53.7 kW) at 2200 rpm.
The max travel speed (forward/reverse): 18.6 mph (29.9 kph) and 18.4 mph
(29.6 kph). The open center hydraulic system used a gear pump with flow
rate of 28.5 gal/min (108 l/min). The hydraulic system pressure is 2400
psi (166 bar).
The Ford 655A is equipped with 11Lx16 (2WD) or 10.5x18 (4WD) front tires
and 16.9x28 rear tires. The loader has a lift capacity (pivot pin) of
5250 lbs (2380 kg) to full height of 129" (3270 mm), and bucket's
breakout force of 11850 lbs (5375 kg). The bucket dump clearance is 105"
(2660 mm) at maximum dump angle of 55 degrees. The time to raise the
boom is 4.3 seconds from ground level to maximum height, and bucket dump
time is 1.6 seconds. The heaped capacity of 7-ft general purpose bucket
is 1.0 cu.yd (0.80 m3).
The backhoe has a maximum digging depth of 232" (5890 mm). The bucket
digging force is 8950 lbs (4060 kg), and dipper stick digging force is
6640 lbs (3010 kg). The overall reach from swing pivot at ground level
is 275" (6980 mm). The backhoe can be equipped with 12" (303 mm), 18"
(455 mm), 24" (610 mm), 30" (760 mm), and 36" (915 mm) buckets.
