Cat 422E Backhoe Loader
The
Caterpillar 422E backhoe loader was manufactured from 2006 to 2016. The Cat 422E
drivetrain consists of Caterpillar 3054C DINA 4-stroke 4-cylinder liquid cooled
diesel engine, and 4x4 Power Shuttle transmission with full synchromesh gearbox
and single-stage torque converter.
A 268 cu.in (4.4L) engine has a cylinder bore of 4.13" (105 mm), piston
stroke of 5" (127 mm), rated power of 75 hp (56 kW), and maximum torque
of 386 Nm (285 lb-ft) at 1400 rpm. The maximum travel speed (forward or
reverse): 24.8 mph (40 km/h).
The closed center load sensing hydraulic system used a variable
displacement piston pump with a flow of 33.1 gal/min (125 l/min). The
hydraulic system pressure is 227 bar (3292 psi). The Caterpillar 422E is
fitted with 12.5/80x18 or 340/80R18 (Radial) front tires and 16.9x28 or
16.9R28 (Radial) rear tires. The wheel base is 87 in (2200 mm).
The loader has a lift capacity (at pin) of 5342 lbs (2423 kg) to max
height of 130.4" (3314 mm), and bucket's breakout force of 8767 lbs
(3985 kg). The bucket dump clearance with a 43-degree max dump angle is
103.2" (2621 mm). The 95" (2400 mm) standard material bucket has a rated
capacity of 29.2 cu.ft (0.84 m3).
The backhoe with extendable stick has a bucket dig force of 11465 lbs
(5211 kg) and dipperstick digging force of 5395 lbs (2452 kg). The max
digging depth is 19 ft 3 in (5887 mm), and overall reach from swing
pivot is 21 ft 6 in (6610 mm) at ground level. The backhoe can be fitted
with a 16", 20", 24", 30", and 36" buckets.
