Ford 555D Backhoe Loader
The
Ford 555D backhoe loader was manufactured from 1993 to 1995. The Ford 555D is
powered by 256 cubic inches (4.2 L) 4-stroke 4-cylinder liquid-cooled diesel
engine. The engine has a cylinder bore of 4.4" (112 mm), piston stroke of 4.21"
(107 mm), rated power of 72 hp (53.7 kW), and maximum torque of 260 Nm (192
lb-ft) at 1200 rpm. The Power Shuttle transmission includes a multiple disc
clutch, 4x4 fully synchronized gearbox, and single stage torque converter.
The maximum forward speed - 19.9 mph (32 kph), a max reverse speed -
19.8 mph (31.9 kph). The open center hydraulic system includes a gear
pump with a flow rate of 31 gpm (117.5 lpm). The hydraulic pressure is
2450 psi (169 bar). The Ford 555D was equipped with a hydrostatic power
steering system, wet disc brakes, 11Lx16 (2WD) or 12.0x16.5 (4WD) front
tires, and 16.9x28 rear tires. The wheelbase is 87" (2200 mm).
The front end loader has a lifting capacity (at pivot pin) of 6000 lbs
(2720 kg) to full height of 136" (3450 mm), and breakout force (bucket
on ground) of 12000 lbs (5445 kg). A full dump clearance with a
45-degree max dump angle is 108" (2740 mm). The rated cycle times are
4.5 seconds lifting to full height, and 1.7 seconds maximum bucket
dumping. The 88" (2230 mm) bucket has a heaped capacity of 31.5 cu.ft
(0.9 m3). The 92" (2330 mm) bucket has a heaped capacity of 35 cu.ft (1
m3).
The Ford Xtra-Vator backhoe has a bucket digging force of 11570 lbs
(5250 kg), and dipper arm dig force of 7620 lbs (3455 kg). The maximum
digging depth is 225" (5710 mm), and overall reach from swing pivot is
265" (6730 mm) at ground level. The backhoe can be equipped with 12"
(305 mm), 18" (455 mm), 24" (605 mm), 30" (760 mm), and 36" (910 mm)
buckets.
