Ford 555C Backhoe Loader
The
Ford 555C is a 2-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive backhoe loader. This model was
manufactured from 1989 to 1992. The Ford 555C powerline includes a 256 cu.in
(4.2L) Ford four-cylinder liquid-cooled diesel engine and 4x4 transmission with
single-stage torque converter. The engine has a cylinder bore of 4.4" (112 mm),
piston stroke of 4.21" (107 mm), and rated power of 71 hp (52.9 kW).
The maximum travel speed (forward/reverse): 19.9 mph (32 km/h) and 19.8
mph (31.9 km/h). The open center hydraulic system includes a gear pump
with fluid flow rate of 31 gal/min (117.5 l/min). The hydraulic pressure
is 169 bar (2450 psi). The two-wheel drive models are equipped with a
11Lx16 front tires and 16.9x28 rear tires. A 12.0x16.5 front tires and
16.9x28 rear tires are fitted for models with four-wheel drive. The
wheelbase is 87 in (2200 mm).
The loader has a lifting capacity (at pivot pin) of 6000 lbs (2720 kg)
to full height of 136 in (3450 mm), and bucket's breakout force of 12000
lbs (5445 kg). The bucket dump clearance with a 56-degree maximum dump
angle is 108 in (2740 mm). The rated cycle times are 4.5 seconds raising
to full height, and 1.7 seconds maximum bucket dumping. The 88" (2230
mm) standard material bucket has a nominal heaped capacity of 31.5 cu.ft
(0.9 m3).
The Ford Xtra-Vator backhoe can dig to a maximum depth of 225 in (5710
mm). The dipperstick digging force is 7620 lbs (3455 kg), and bucket
digging force is 11570 lbs (5250 kg). The overall reach from swing pivot
at ground line is 265 in (6730 mm). The backhoe is compatible with 12"
(305 mm), 18" (455 mm), 24" (605 mm), 30" (760 mm), and 36" (910 mm)
buckets.
