Massey Ferguson 40 Backhoe Loader
The
Massey Ferguson 40 is a 2WD (4x2) backhoe loader. The MF 40 is equipped with a
Perkins D3.152 four-stroke 3-cylinder liquid-cooled diesel engine with a rated
power of 42 hp (31.3 kw) at 2000 rpm, or Perkins G3.152 three-cylinder gasoline
engine with a rated power of 41 hp (30.5 kw) at 2000 rpm. The Massey Ferguson 40
is fitted with 2 transmission options: 6x6 manual shuttle transmission, or 4x4
transmission with torque converter.
Max. travel speed (forward/reverse): 21.4 mph (35.3 km/h) and 19.3 mph
(31.8 km/h). The open center hydraulic system used a piston pump with a
rated capacity of 20 gallons per minute (76 l/min). The hydraulic
pressure is 2125 psi (147 bar).
The Massey Ferguson 40 was fitted with 7.50-16 or 11L-15 front tires and
14.9-24 or 16.9x24 rear tires. The front end loader’s maximum lift
height is 121 inches (3070 mm) at pin, and clearance with bucket dumped
is 99 inches (2515 mm). The lift capacity is 3000 lb (1360 kg) at
maximum height (bucket pin), and boom breakout force is 5000 lb (2267
kg). The raising time is 3.6 sec. from ground level to max height, and
bucket dump time is 1.2 seconds. The loader is compatible with a 68"
bucket.
The backhoe has a bucket digging force of 8500 lb (3855 kg), and max
digging depth of 150 inches (3810 mm). The reach from swing pivot is 177
inches (4490 mm) at ground level. The backhoe is equipped with 16", 18",
24", and 36" buckets.
