International Harvester 844S
The
International Harvester 844S farm tractor was manufactured between 1975 and
1989. The IH 844S tractor is powered by International Harvester D-268 4-cycle
4-cylinder direct injection liquid-cooled diesel engine. A 268 cubic inches (4.4
L) engine has a cylinder bore of 3.94" (100 mm), piston stroke of 5.50" (140
mm), rated power of 87 hp (64.9 kW), and max torque of 296 Nm (218 lb-ft) at
1300 rpm.
The International Harvester 844-S is fitted with 3 transmission options:
mechanical transmission with 8 forward and 4 reverse gears, Agriomatic
transmission with 12 forward and 4 reverse gears, or IH Total-Synchron
2-speed powershift transmission with 16 forward and 8 reverse gears. The
maximum forward speed - 19.1 mph (30.7 km/h), maximum reverse speed - 11
mph (17.7 km/h). The open center hydraulic system includes a gear pump
with rated fluid flow of 7.9 gallons per minute (29.9 liters per
minute).
The main relief pressure is 167 bar (2425 psi). The 2-wheel drive models
are equipped with 7.50x16 front tyres and 15.0x34 rear tyres. The
10.00x24 front tyres and 15.0x34 rear tyres fit 4-wheel drive tractors.
The wheelbase is 94.1" (2390 mm) for 4x2 (2WD) models and 92.9" (2350
mm) for 4x4 (4WD) models.
