International Harvester 844XL
The
International Harvester 844 XL is a 2WD or 4WD farm tractor. This model was
manufactured from 1974 to 1980. The International Harvester 844XL is equipped
with a 268 cu.in (4.4L) IH D268 4-stroke 4-cylinder direct injection naturally
aspirated water-cooled diesel engine.
The engine has a cylinder bore of 3.94" (100 mm), piston stroke of 5.50"
(140 mm), rated power of 80 hp (59.3 kW), and max torque of 296 Nm (218
lb-ft) at 1300 rpm. The IH Total-Synchron transmission includes a dry
clutch and 2-speed powershift gearbox with 16 forward and 8 reverse
gears.
The maximum forward speed - 18.6 mph (29.9 km/h), max reverse speed -
10.8 mph (17.4 km/h). The open center hydraulic system used a gear pump
with fluid flow rate of 7.9 gal/min (30 l/min). The hydraulic pressure
is 167 bar (2430 psi). The International Harvester 844 XL was equipped
with a hydrostatic power steering system, wet disc brakes, 11.0x16 (2WD)
or 12.4x24 (4WD) front tires, and 14.9x38 rear tires. The wheelbase is
94.5" (2390 mm) for models with 2-wheel drive and 92.9" (2350 mm) for
models with 4-wheel drive.
