International Harvester 856XL
The
International Harvester 856 XL is a 2WD or 4WD row crop tractor. This model was
manufactured from 1983 to 1985. The IH 856 XL tractor is powered by
International Harvester DT238 four-cycle four-cylinder direct injection
turbocharged diesel engine.
A 239 cubic inches (4.9 L) engine has a cylinder bore of 3.88" (98 mm),
piston stroke of 5.06" (129 mm), rated power of 85 hp (63.4 kW), and max
torque of 310 Nm (229 lb-ft) at 1600 rpm. The International Harvester
856XL is fitted with 2 transmission options: 8x4 gear transmission, or
16x8 Synchron 2-speed powershift transmission. Max. forward speed - 18.6
mph (29.9 kph), maximum reverse speed - 10.8 mph (17.4 kph). The open
center hydraulic system includes a gear pump with a rated capacity of
7.9 gpm (29.9 lpm).
The main relief pressure is 170 bar (2465 psi). The International
Harvester 856XL was equipped with a hydrostatic power steering,
hydraulic wet disc brakes, 7.50x18 (2WD) or 13.6x24 (4WD) front tires,
and 16.9x34 rear tires. The wheelbase is 93.9 in (2380 mm) for 2-wheel
drive models and 92.4 in (2340 mm) for 4-wheel drive models.
