International Harvester 966 is a 2WD or 4WD row-crop tractor from 66-series.
This model was manufactured from 1971 to 1976. The International Harvester 966
is powered by 414 cu.in (6.8 L) IH D414 six-cylinder direct injection naturally
aspirated diesel engine with a rated power of 102 hp (75.6 kW).
The tractor is fitted with a three types of transmission. Type 1: 8x4
sliding gear transmission. Type 2: 16x8 partial powershift transmission.
Type 3: Two-range hydrostatic transmission. The maximum forward speed -
18.3 mph (29.4 kph), maximum reverse speed - 18 mph (29 kph).
The open center hydraulic system includes a gear pump with rated fluid
flow of 12 gal/min (45.4 l/min). The system relief pressure is 138 bar
(2000 psi). The International 966 tractor is equipped with a hydrostatic
power steering, independent hydraulic dry brakes, 9.5Lx15 front tyres,
and 18.4x34 rear tyres. The wheelbase is 105" (2655 mm).
