Kubota M7500 Troubleshooting

The Kubota M7500 is a 2WD or 4WD utility tractor. This model was manufactured between 1979 and 1986. The Kubota M7500 tractor is equipped with Kubota V4000 4-stroke 4-cylinder liquid-cooled diesel engine.

A 243 cubic inches (4 L) engine has a cylinder bore of 4.13" (105 mm), piston stroke of 4.53" (115 mm), and rated power of 81 hp (60.5 kW). The gear transmission includes a dry clutch and gearbox with 16 forward and 4 reverse gears. The maximum forward speed - 17 mph (27.3 kph), max. reverse speed - 8 mph (12.8 kph).

The open center hydraulic system includes a gear pump with rated fluid flow of 9.3 gal/min (35 l/min). The 4-wheel drive models (M7500DT) are equipped with 11.2x24 front tyres and 18.4x28 rear tyres. The 7.50x16 front tyres and 18.4x28 rear tyres fit 2-wheel drive tractors. The wheel base is 84.8 inches (2150 mm) for 2WD models and 85.6 inches (2170 mm) for 4WD models.

Engine Troubleshooting
Engine won't start or starts hard
Fuel filter is dirty - Change filter element
Fuel is not supplied from the tank to the system - Check the fuel shut-off valve
Air trapped in fuel system - Bleed air
Fuel injectors are damaged or dirty - Check fuel injectors and replace if required
Fuel injection pump damage - Install a new pump or rebuild
Low compression - Check cylinder block and replace worn parts
Engine stops running unexpectedly
Engine is cold - Warm up the engine as required
Air in fuel system - Air-bleed fuel system
Irregular fuel injection - Adjust fuel injection timing
Clogged fuel filter element - Change filter element
Faulty or dirty injectors - Service or change fuel injectors
Diesel starts and stalls suddenly
Timing of fuel injection pump is not adjusted - Fuel injection pump timing adjustment needs to be corrected
Fuel filter clogging - Filter maintenance required
Fuel injector nozzles are clogged or faulty - Install new set of properly balanced nozzles
Defective fuel injection pump - Replace injection pump or repair it
Dirty air cleaner - Replace or service air cleaner element
Engine stalls while idling
Too low idle RPM - Adjust low idling as recommended
Fuel injection pump is not working correctly - Change or repair the pump
Fuel injector nozzles are defective or dirty - Replace fuel injector nozzles
Excessive valve clearance - Check and adjust
Engine overheated
Not enough coolant - Coolant needs to be refilled. Check for coolant leaks
Cooling system components are failed or system is clogged - Replace faulty parts or service cooling system
Not enough engine oil - Check oil level and add oil as required
Broken fan belt or incorrect belt tension - Adjust belt tension properly or change it
Thermostat failure - Check thermostat, replace if necessary
Engine loses power
Clogged or damaged injectors - Test fuel injectors and change if necessary
Incorrect fuel injection pressure - Adjust to correct pressure
Air filter is dirty - Service or change air filter
Oil filter is dirty - Clean or replace engine oil filter element
Engine overloaded - Shift to lower gear or reduce the load
Valve clearance is out of adjustment - Need to adjust valve clearance
Incorrect low idle setting - Test and adjust
Dirt in the fuel pipes or hoses - Clean fuel hoses and pipes
Insufficient engine compression: Valves are faulty or leaking - Change the valves
Engine knocking sound or abnormal noise
Fuel injection pump out of timing - Repair or replace fuel injection pump
Fuel injector nozzles are clogged or faulty - Install a new set of well-balanced nozzles
Engine oil level is low - Check oil level and add oil as required
Engine not warmed up - Warm up engine as required
Crankshaft or main bearings failure - Repair or replace defective parts
Piston rings are defective or broken - Have piston rings replaced
Loose flywheel bolts - Inspect flywheel bolts and tighten properly
Diesel engine consuming too much oil
Oil leakage: Gaskets or seals may be damaged - Replace defective parts
Oil viscosity is incorrect - Fill up with the correct oil viscosity
Piston rings are seized or worn - Install new piston rings
Valve guides or stems are damaged - Need to replace the valves
Worn cylinder liners or pistons - Check liners and pistons, change as required


Electrical System Troubleshooting
Battery is not charging
Battery faulty cell - Use a new battery
Bad battery cable harness - Inspect cables for malfunctions, repair or change
Battery terminals and cables are corroded or loose - Terminals and cables need to be tightened or cleaned
Belt slipping or wrong belt tension adjustment - Install new belt or adjust belt tension as required
Starter turns slow
Low battery output - Recharge the battery
Battery discharges quickly - Battery needs service or replacement
Battery cable harness failure - Check battery electrical cable for defects, replace or repair
Battery terminals and cables are corroded or loose - Tighten or clean cables and terminals
Starter will not work
Low battery capacity - Low battery charging, charge as required
Discharged or defective battery - Replace or charge as required
Starter motor is faulty - Replace or repair starter
Disconnected or incorrectly connected cables - Inspect battery cables and connect correctly

Transmission Troubleshooting
Gear shift is hard
Misadjusted or defective clutch - Adjust or install new clutch
Stuck or damaged gear shift linkage - Service or replace shift linkage
Damaged or worn shift forks - Change defective shift forks
Gearshift mechanism is worn out - Repair or replace worn components if required
Transmission oil pressure is low
Oil level is low - Add transmission oil as required
Plugged transmission fluid filter (if equipped) - Replace or clean transmission fluid filter
Relief valve failure - Install a new relief valve
Transmission is excessively noisy
Cracked or worn bearings - Faulty bearings should be replaced
Low transmission oil level - Correct the transmission oil level
Dirty transmission oil - Fill up with fresh transmission oil
Worn gears or improper backlash - Replace gears or set backlash properly
Damaged or worn shift forks - Replace defective shift forks
Transmission oil leaking
Broken gaskets or seals - Install new gaskets or seal
Transmission case is cracked - Replace case or transmission assembly


Hydraulics Troubleshooting
Hydraulic system overheating
Hydraulic system pressure is incorrect - Hydraulic pressure needs to be set correctly
Main relief valve is defective or unadjusted - Adjust or replace the relief valve
Contaminated hydraulic fluid - Change hydraulic fluid
Air in hydraulic system - Inspect the suction line, pump seals, and fittings
Hydraulic fluid pressure too low
Lack of hydraulic oil - Check oil level and add hydraulic oil as required
Hydraulic oil filter element clogging - Service the hydraulic filter or change if required
Hydraulic pump failure - Check pump capacity and change if necessary
Hydraulic control valve block is defective or set improper - Adjust properly or replace
Broken hydraulic cylinder - Check the hydraulic cylinder parts for damage or wear and replace if necessary
Hydraulic piping leaks - Detect leaks in hydraulic system and repair it
3-point hitch does not raise or raises very slowly
Lack of hydraulic fluid - Need to add fluid
Hydraulic oil is too cold - Allow oil to warm
Hydraulic fluid filter clogging - Clean the hydraulic filter or install new filter element
Hydraulic pump is faulty - Check pump flow and change pump if necessary
Misadjusted or defective main relief valve - Adjust or replace the relief valve
Defective or not adjusted hydraulic control valve - Adjust correctly or replace

Hitch drops too slowly or can't drop

Defective hydraulic cylinder - Inspect cylinder parts for wear or damage and replace if required
Lift arm shaft is worn - Replace the shaft
The hitch has any internal mechanical damage - Change defective or worn hitch components
3-point hitch lift or lower is jerky
Air enters in hydraulic system - Check the suction pipe, fittings, and pump seals
Dirty hydraulic oil - The oil must be changed
Damaged hydraulic oil pump - Check the pump performance and replace it if required
Hydraulic spool valve is defective or set improper - Set correctly or replace
Hydraulic cylinder is not working - Inspect the hydraulic cylinder parts for damage or wear and replace if required

Steering System Troubleshooting
Steering wheel turns hard
Steering column is defective or improperly assembled - Change steering column or assemble properly
Air trapped in the steering system - Bleed air
Improper toe-in adjustment - Check and adjust toe-in
Front tires are worn out - Install new tires
Worn steering pump - Check the steering pump and replace if necessary
Worn or defective power steering valve - Inspect and replace as required
Steering cylinder is defective - Replace or repair hydraulic steering cylinder
Insufficient steering fluid - Fill up the steering fluid
Steering system oil leakage - Retighten steering hose and line connections
Steering wheel has too much free-play
Worn steering column shaft or coupling - Replace defective part
Power steering valve is worn or defective - Inspect and replace as required
Steering pump is faulty - Steering pump needs to be repaired or replaced
Steering tie-rod ends or linkage are defective - Replace damaged part
Front wheels wander to left or right
Tires are improperly inflated - Inflate as necessary
Toe-in adjustment is incorrect - Adjust toe-in correctly
Worn or faulty steering tie-rod ends or linkage - Change failed part
Power steering valve is worn or defective - Inspect and change as required
Steering cylinder is defective - Replace or repair hydraulic steering cylinder
Defective or improperly adjusted front hub bearings - Replace or adjust the bearings correctly
