Mahindra 2645 Troubleshooting

The Mahindra 2645 is a 4WD compact utility tractor from 2600 Series. This model was manufactured from 2018 to 2023. The components of Mahindra 2645 powerline system: a 166.7 cubic inches (2.7L) Mahindra CE-45 4-cylinder direct injection naturally aspirated liquid-cooled diesel engine with a rated power of 44 hp (32.8 kW), and synchro shuttle transmission with 12 forward and 12 reverse gears.

The maximum travel speed (forward/reverse): 16.3 mph (26 km/h) and 15.6 mph (25 km/h). The open center hydraulic system includes a gear pump with rated fluid flow of 8.2 gal/min (31 l/min). The Mahindra 2645 is equipped with a hydrostatic power steering system, wet disc brakes, 8.30x16 or 10.0-16.5 front tyres, and 12.4x24 or 43x16-20 rear tyres. The tractor is compatible with Mahindra 2645L front end-loader with a maximum lift height of 101.9" (2580 mm), and Mahindra 60B backhoe with maximum digging depth of 95" (2410 mm).

Engine Troubleshooting
Engine difficult to start or won't start

Air in fuel system - Bleed fuel system.
Clogged fuel filter - Service the filter.
Fuel injection nozzles are faulty or clogged - Test injection nozzles and change if necessary.
Water in the fuel system - Change fuel and repair fuel system.
Valve clearance is not correct - Need to adjust valve clearance.
Defective fuel injection pump - Replace injection pump or repair it.

Diesel starts but immediately shuts off

Air filter clogged - Clean or replace the element.
Clogged fuel filter - Install new filter element.
Problems with fuel injection pump tightness - Inspect fuel injection pump for leaks.
Damaged or clogged injectors - Test and replace fuel injectors if necessary.
Fuel injection pump is broken - Repair or replace injection pump.

Engine shuts off suddenly while running

Engine has not warmed up to the recommended temperature - Engine is not warmed up to the required temperature.
Dirty fuel filter - Install new filter element.
Air in the fuel pipes - Bleed the fuel pipes.
Defective injection nozzle - Install a new kit of correctly balanced nozzles.
Improper fuel injection timing - Adjust the pump as required.

Engine stalls when idling

Improperly adjusted low idle speed - Correct the settings.
Fuel injection pump is not operating properly - Change or repair the pump.
Defective fuel injectors - Change or clean fuel injectors.
Excessive valve clearance - Need to adjust valve clearance.

Diesel engine is losing power

Clogged air filter element - Clean or replace element.
Clogged injection nozzle - Change fuel injection nozzles.
Fuel injection pressure is wrong - Adjust to correct pressure.
Valve clearance is not correct - Have it adjusted.
Incorrectly adjusted low idle speed - Test and adjust.
Restricted fuel lines or hoses - Clean fuel lines and hoses.
Cylinder head gasket defective - Replace cylinder head gasket.
Worn or damaged piston rings - Replace piston rings.

Engine overheats

Lack of coolant in cooling system - Add coolant fluid and inspect the cooling system for leaks.
Engine oil level low - Checking oil level and add if necessary.
Dirty radiator fins or faulty radiator cap - Replace cap or clean radiator.
Excessive wear of the fan belt - Replace the fan belt.
Diesel engine is overloaded - Reduce load or shift to lower gear.

Insufficient oil pressure

Not enough oil in the engine - Fill the crankcase with oil.
Oil filter clogged - Change or service engine oil filter.
Wrong oil viscosity - Drain crankcase and refill with correct oil.
Excessive main bearing oil clearance - Bearing replacement required.
Oil pump failure - Replace as required.

Abnormal engine knocking or noise

Engine oil insufficient - Check oil level and add oil as required.
Low coolant temperature - Warm up to required temperature.
Fuel injection pump timing is not adjusted - Adjust as recommended.
Incorrect low idle speed adjustment - Adjust low idle speed.
Fuel injectors are dirty or defective - Clean or replace fuel injectors.
Connecting rod misalignment or failure - Align or change connecting rod.
Pistons are worn or scored - Replace the pistons.

Hydrostatic Transmission Troubleshooting
Excessive HST transmission noise

Insufficient oil level or contaminated oil - Add oil to proper level or pour fresh transmission oil.
Worn or unadjusted speed control linkage - Adjust or repair linkage.
Relief valve malfunction - Replace valve as required.
Transmission overload - The load should be reduced.
Defective or worn transmission parts - After disassembly and inspection, replace defective components.

Loss of power

Low fluid level - Check and refill the transmission fluid.
Relief valve is damaged - Replace relief valve as required.
Speed control pedal linkage is bent or not adjusted - Replace or adjust linkage.

Transmission fluid overheats

Transmission fluid level is low - Need to add transmission fluid.
Dirty transmission fluid filter element - Replace or service transmission fluid filter.
Cooling components are clogged or damaged - Inspect all cooling components and replace or clean if necessary.
Transmission overloaded - Reduce loading.

Transmission fluid leaking

Broken seals or gaskets - Change defective gaskets or seal.
High internal transmission case pressure - Replace worn components.
Plugged transmission fluid return tube - Service or replace return tube.

Hydraulics Troubleshooting
Hydraulic oil pressure is low

Low hydraulic oil level - Need to add oil.
Hydraulic oil filter element is clogged - Clean the hydraulic filter element or replace if necessary.
Hydraulic pump malfunction - Repair or replace hydraulic fluid pump.
Hydraulic spool valve is not set properly - Set the spool valve properly.
Hydraulic cylinder is faulty - Change or repair hydraulic cylinder.
Leaking hydraulic pipes - Find leaks in the system and fix it.

Hydraulic system is too hot

Defective main relief valve - Install a new relief valve.
Improper hydraulic fluid type - Use the proper type of hydraulic fluid.
Hydraulic fluid is contaminated - Fill up with new hydraulic fluid.
Air in hydraulic system - Bleed air from hydraulic system.

Hitch can't lift or lifts too slowly

Excessive hitch loading - Reduce loading.
Hydraulic oil level low - Need to add oil.
Hydraulic oil filter element is clogged - Clean or replace the hydraulic filter.
Defective hydraulic pump - Install a new hydraulic oil pump.
Main relief valve malfunctioning - Relief valve need to be replaced.
Defective hydraulic spool valve - Repair or change hydraulic valve.
Hydraulic cylinder is defective - Repair or replace hydraulic cylinder.
Loose or broken suction pipe - Retighten or replace pipe.

3-point hitch can't drop or drops too slowly

Not adjusted hydraulic control valve - Need to adjust.
Faulty hydraulic cylinder - Repair or change hydraulic cylinder.
The three-point hitch is not adjusted - Adjust the hitch.
Hitch rock shaft is damaged - Install a new shaft.

Hitch lifting or lowering is jerky

Air in hydraulic pipes - Bleed hydraulic pipes.
Hydraulic fluid is dirty - Hydraulic fluid change required.
Hydraulic pump failure - Change or repair hydraulic oil pump.
Hydraulic spool valve block is faulty - Install a new hydraulic valve or repair it.
Faulty hydraulic cylinder - Repair or replace hydraulic cylinder.

Steering System Troubleshooting
Difficult steering

Improperly assembled or defective steering column - Reassemble or change the steering column.
Air in the hydraulic steering system - Need to bleed air.
Not adjusted toe-in - Check toe-in and correct.
Tire pressure uneven - Inflate the tires correctly.
Steering pump is worn - Replace or repair steering pump.
Pump flow control valve is worn or stuck - Install a new flow control valve or clean it.
Steering fluid level is insufficient - Add oil to steering system.

Excessive play in steering

Steering column coupling or shaft has maximum wear - Replace defective component.
Steering pump is faulty - Repair or replace steering pump.
Loose or worn steering linkage components - Replace or repair steering linkage.

Tractor pulls to right or left

Uneven wear on front tyres - Replace the tyres.
Incorrect toe-in - Adjust toe-in wheels.
Steering linkage components are loose or worn - Repair or change steering linkage.
Improperly adjusted or worn front wheel bearings - Adjust properly or replace bearings.

Electrical Troubleshooting
Battery will not charge

Loose or corroded wire connections - Tighten or service cable connections.
Battery terminal clamps are faulty - Install new terminal clamps.
Faulty cell in battery - Install a new battery.
Belt is defective or loose - Adjust belt tension or install a new belt.

Starter turns slow

Low battery output voltage - Battery is drained, recharge it.
Battery drains quickly - Service charging system or change battery.
Disconnected cables or faulty battery terminals - Connect cables correctly or replace terminals.

Starter is not working

Battery is drained or worn - Recharge or replace battery.
Disconnected or incorrectly connected wires - Inspect battery wires and connect correctly.
Battery voltage is low - Battery is drained, recharge it.
Damaged starter motor - Starter should be replaced.
