Mahindra 2665 Troubleshooting

The Mahindra 2665 compact utility tractor was manufactured between 2018 and 2020. The Mahindra 2665 driveline consists of 4-cycle 3-cylinder direct injection turbocharged intercooled diesel engine and 12x12 synchro shuttle partial synchromesh transmission. A 161.7 cubic inches (2.65 L) engine has a cylinder bore of 3.78" (96 mm), piston stroke of 4.8" (122 mm), and rated power of 65 hp (48.4 kW).

The maximum forward speed - 16.3 mph (26 km/h), maximum reverse speed - 15.6 mph (25 km/h). The open center hydraulic system includes a gear pump with rated fluid flow of 11 gpm (41.5 lpm). The Mahindra 2665 is equipped with a hydrostatic power steering system, hydraulic wet disc brakes, 9.50x20 front tyres, and 14.9x28 rear tyres. The tractor is compatible with Mahindra 2665CL front end-loader with a maximum lift height of 115.4" (2930 mm), and Mahindra 65B backhoe with maximum digging depth of 108" (2740 mm).

Engine Troubleshooting
Diesel engine hard to start or doesn't start

Air in fuel tank - Bleed fuel tank.
Fuel filter element is clogged - Change filter element.
Clogged or defective injection nozzles - Clean or replace injection nozzles.
Dirt or water in fuel system - Drain water or flush dirt from the system.
Excessive valve clearance - Have it adjusted.
Damaged fuel injection pump - Rebuild or replace pump.

Diesel starts and then shuts off

Air filter plugged - Replace air filter element.
Dirty fuel filter - Filter maintenance required.
Problems with fuel injection pump tightness - Inspect fuel injection pump for leaks.
Clogged or defective injectors - Test and replace fuel injectors if necessary.
Fuel injection pump damage - Repair or install a new fuel pump.

Engine stops running suddenly

Engine is cold - Engine is not warmed up to the required temperature.
Fuel filter element is dirty - Clean or replace the filter.
Air trapped in fuel system - Bleed air.
Fuel injection nozzles fault - Clean or replace injection nozzles.
Fuel injection pump timing is not adjusted - Adjust according to specifications.

Engine stalling at idle

Low idle speed setting is incorrect - Normalize low idle speed.
Damaged fuel injection pump - Change or repair the pump.
Fuel injectors are dirty or defective - Clean fuel injectors or change it.
Improper valve clearance - Correct valve clearance needs to be set.

Engine power is too low

Air filter is clogged - Clean or change the filter.
Fuel injection nozzles are damaged - Replace injection nozzles.
Fuel injection pressure is wrong - Correct the pressure settings.
Valve clearance is out of adjustment - Have it adjusted.
Improperly adjusted low idle speed - Adjust the low idle speed.
Clogged fuel hoses or lines - Clean fuel lines and hoses.
Leaking cylinder head gasket - Install new cylinder head gasket.
Worn or broken piston rings - Change piston rings.

Engine overheats

Engine coolant is insufficient - Top up coolant fluid and check system for leaks.
Engine oil level low - Fill up the engine oil.
Clogged radiator fins or damaged radiator cap - Replace cap or clean radiator.
Fan belt is broken or worn - The fan belt needs to be replaced.
Engine is running overloaded - Reduce load on the engine.

Low oil pressure

Not enough oil in the engine - Check and refill the oil.
Oil filter clogged - Clean or change engine oil filter.
Wrong oil viscosity - Use proper viscosity oil.
Excessive oil clearance of crankshaft bearing - Install new bearings.
Oil pump is damaged - Repair or change.

Engine noises or knocks

Engine oil level is low - Check oil level and add oil as required.
Engine is not preheated - Warm up to required temperature.
Fuel injection pump timing is wrong - Adjust according to specifications.
Incorrectly set low idle speed - Adjust as required.
Fuel injectors are faulty or clogged - Replace fuel injectors.
Faulty or misaligned connecting rod - Replace or align connecting rod.
Worn or broken pistons - Pistons replacement required.

Transmission Troubleshooting
Low transmission fluid pressure

Low oil level - Need to add transmission oil.
Clogged transmission fluid filter (if equipped) - Replace or service transmission fluid filter.
Relief valve malfunction - Replace the valve.

Transmission noise

Lack of transmission fluid - Fill the transmission housing to proper fluid level.
Transmission fluid is contaminated - Transmission fluid change required.
Damaged gears or incorrect backlash - Change the gears or set backlash properly.
Worn or broken bearings - Change the bearings.
Worn or damaged gear shift forks - Change the shift forks.
Shaft splines are worn or damaged - Change defective shaft.

Hard shifts

Rusty or worn gear shift linkage - Lubricate or replace the shift linkage.
Shift forks are bent or worn out - Shift forks need to be changed.
Gearshift mechanism is damaged - Replace or repair the mechanism.
Unadjusted or worn clutch - Adjust clutch or change if necessary.

Transmission oil leaking

Transmission fluid level is exceeded - Excess fluid must be drained.
Damaged seals or gaskets - Change defective seal or gaskets.

Hydraulic System Troubleshooting
Low hydraulic system pressure

Insufficient hydraulic fluid - Fill up the hydraulic fluid.
Dirty hydraulic oil filter element - Hydraulic filter maintenance required.
Defective hydraulic pump - Replace or repair hydraulic fluid pump.
Hydraulic control valve is out of adjustment - Need to make adjustment.
Damaged hydraulic cylinder - Install a new hydraulic cylinder or repair it.
Hydraulic piping is leaking - Check the system and repair leaks.

Hydraulics overheating

Main relief valve failure - Replace relief valve.
Wrong hydraulic fluid type - Pour the proper type of fluid.
Dirty hydraulic oil - The oil must be changed.
Air in hydraulic lines - Bleed hydraulic lines.

3-point hitch can't lift or lifts too slowly

Excessive hitch loading - Reduce loading.
Hydraulic oil level low - Need to add oil.
Clogged hydraulic oil filter - Service the hydraulic filter or change if required.
Hydraulic pump malfunction - Replace or repair hydraulic oil pump.
Main relief valve is faulty - Replace relief valve.
Faulty hydraulic control valve - Install a new valve or repair it.
Broken hydraulic cylinder - Repair or install a new hydraulic cylinder.
Disconnected or broken suction line - Change or connect properly.

3-point hitch won't lower or lowers slowly

Hydraulic spool valve is out of adjustment - Spool valve adjustment required.
Faulty hydraulic cylinder - Repair or install a new hydraulic cylinder.
The 3-point hitch is not adjusted - The hitch must be adjusted.
Damaged lift arm shaft - Replace the shaft.

Hitch lift or lower is jerky

Air in hydraulic lines - Bleed hydraulic lines.
Hydraulic oil contamination - Change the oil.
Hydraulic pump malfunction - Repair or replace hydraulic fluid pump.
Hydraulic spool valve is damaged - Install a new hydraulic valve or repair it.
Hydraulic cylinder is defective - Repair or install a new hydraulic cylinder.

Steering Troubleshooting
Stiff steering

Incorrectly fitted or worn steering column - Refit or replace the steering column.
Air in steering hydraulic system - Air-bleed steering system.
Incorrect toe-in - Adjust toe-in wheels.
Uneven tyre pressure - Inflate the tyres properly.
Hydraulic steering pump is defective - Install a new hydraulic steering pump.
Steering pump control valve is stuck or faulty - Clean or install new control valve.
Lack of steering fluid - Need to add steering oil.

Excessive steering wheel play

Worn steering column shaft or coupling - Change faulty part.
Steering pump not working - Check the hydraulic steering pump and change if necessary.
Steering linkage parts are loose or worn - Check and change as required.

Front wheels wander to right or left

Uneven wear on front tyres - Replace the tyres.
Improper toe-in - Adjust toe-in properly.
Steering linkage joints are worn or loose - Check and replace as required.
Front wheel bearings are damaged or incorrectly adjusted - Adjust properly or replace bearings.

Electrical Troubleshooting
Battery does not charge

Corroded or loose electrical wire connections - Service or tighten connections.
Faulty electrical terminal connectors - Terminal connectors need to be changed.
Faulty cell in battery - Replace the battery.
Belt is damaged or loose - Adjust belt tension or change the belt.

Starter motor turns slow

Low battery output voltage - Battery needs to be recharged.
Battery does not hold charge - Service or change the battery.
Disconnected wires or corroded battery terminals - Connect wiring correctly or install new terminals.

Starter will not work

Battery is low or faulty - Charge or replace the battery.
Battery cables are disconnected or improperly connected - Inspect cables and connect properly.
Battery voltage is low - Charge the battery.
Defective starter motor - Starter needs to be replaced.
