Mahindra 4025 Troubleshooting
The Mahindra 4025 utility tractor was manufactured between 2008 and 2019. The Mahindra 4025 driveline consists of Mahindra MDI 2700 R2 4-cylinder direct injection water-cooled diesel engine and 8x2 sliding mesh transmission. A 166.7 cubic inches (2.7 L) engine has a cylinder bore of 3.5" (89 mm), piston stroke of 4.33" (110 mm), and rated power of 41 hp (30.6 kW). The maximum forward speed - 17.5 mph (28 km/h), maximum reverse speed - 11 mph (17.5 km/h).
The open center hydraulic system includes a gear pump with rated fluid flow of 8.3 gpm (31.4 lpm). The Mahindra 4025 is equipped with a hydrostatic power steering system, dry disc brakes, 6.00x16 (2WD) or 9.50x16 (4WD) front tyres, and 12.4x28 rear tyres. The tractor is compatible with Mahindra ML232 front end-loader with a maximum lift height of 116" (2940 mm), and Mahindra ANBH86 backhoe with maximum digging depth of 105" (2660 mm).

Engine starts hard or doesn't start |
Air in the fuel pipes - Bleed the fuel pipes.
Fuel filter element clogging - Clean the filter element.
Fuel injection nozzles are faulty or clogged - If necessary, replace with a new nozzle.

The valve clearance is not adjusted - Adjust valve clearance.

Clogged air filter - Carry out maintenance on air filter.
Fuel filter plugging - Clean or change the filter.
Fuel injection pump is leaking - Repair any leaks.
Dirty or defective injectors - Change or clean fuel injectors.
Defective fuel injection pump - Replacement or repair required.
Engine stops unexpectedly during operation |
Engine is not preheated - Warm up engine as required.
Fuel filter plugging - Filter maintenance required.
Air in fuel tank - Bleed fuel tank.
Fuel injection nozzles are clogged or faulty - Test injection nozzles and change if necessary.
Fuel injection pump timing is not adjusted - Adjust as recommended.
Engine stops while idling |
Too low idle RPM - Adjustment required.
Fuel injection pump is not operating properly - Install a new fuel pump or repair.
Clogged or defective injectors - Clean or replace fuel injectors.
The valve clearance is not adjusted - Check and adjust as required.
Engine loses power |
Air filter is clogged - Air filter maintenance required.
Clogged injection nozzle - Clean or replace injection nozzles.
Incorrect fuel injection pressure - Adjust to correct pressure.
The valve clearance is incorrect - Check and adjust.
Incorrectly set low idle speed - Adjustment required.
Fuel hoses or lines are clogged - Service fuel lines and hoses.
Cylinder head gasket is blown - Replace cylinder head gasket.
Defective or worn piston rings - Change piston rings.
Engine overheated |
Engine coolant is insufficient - Add coolant and check the components of cooling system.
Engine oil insufficient - Check and refill engine oil.
Clogged radiator core or leaking radiator cap - Clean radiator or replace cap.
Fan belt slipping or worn - The fan belt needs to be replaced.
Engine is overloaded - Reduce the load or operate the tractor in lower gears.
Low oil pressure |
Low crankcase oil level - Checking oil level and add if necessary.
Plugged engine oil filter - Replace or clean engine oil filter element.
Improper type of engine oil - Use correct viscosity oil.
Excessive crankshaft bearing oil clearance - Bearing needs to be changed.
Oil pump malfunction - Repair or change.
Engine noise or knocking |
Insufficient engine oil - Fill up the oil to required level.
Coolant temperature is low - Warm up the engine.
Incorrect adjustment of fuel injection pump timing - Set the fuel pump timing correctly.
Low idle speed adjustment is incorrect - Adjust the low idle speed.
Fuel injectors are faulty or clogged - Clean or replace fuel injectors.
Connecting rod is not aligned or worn - Alignment procedure or replacement is required.
Pistons are worn or broken - Replace the pistons as required.

Insufficient transmission fluid pressure |
Transmission fluid insufficient - Fill the transmission housing to proper fluid level.
Dirty transmission oil filter element (if equipped) - Clean or change transmission oil filter.
Relief valve malfunction - Install a new relief valve.

Too much fluid in transmission - Excess fluid must be drained.

Three-point hitch is out of adjustment - Need to make adjustments.
Hitch cross shaft is damaged - Replace the shaft.

Steering is difficult |
Incorrectly mounted or defective steering column - Mount the steering column correctly or replace it.
Air in the hydraulic steering system - Bleed the system of air.
Improper toe-in - Adjust toe-in wheels.
Uneven wear on front tyres - Replace the tyres.
Steering pump failure - Repair or change steering pump.
Stuck or worn pump flow control valve - Service or change control valve.
Lack of steering fluid - Need to add steering oil.
Excessive steering wheel free play |
Steering column coupling or shaft has maximum wear - Replace defective part.
Worn steering pump - Check the hydraulic steering pump and change if necessary.
Steering linkage components are loose or worn - Inspect and change as required.
Tractor pulls to right or left |
Uneven wear on front tires - Replace the tires.
Not adjusted toe-in - Adjust toe-in properly.
Steering linkage assembly is worn or loose - Repair or change steering linkage.
Worn or incorrectly adjusted or worn front wheel bearings - Install new bearings or adjust it correctly.
Electrical System Troubleshooting |
Battery will not charge |
Loose or corroded electrical wiring connections - Service or tighten connections.
Faulty battery terminal connectors - Terminal connectors need to be changed.
Battery bad cell - Battery change required.
Worn or loose belt - Belt needs to be adjusted or replaced.
Starter turning slow |
Low battery voltage - Battery is drained, charge it.
Battery will not hold charge - Battery needs to be serviced or replaced.
Battery cables are disconnected or terminals are faulty - Check wire connections and change or service terminals.
Starter does not work |
Battery is low or faulty - Replace or charge as required.
Battery cables are disconnected or incorrectly connected - Check cables and connect as needed.
Low battery capacity - Charge the battery.
Defective starter motor - Replace or repair starter.
