Mahindra eMax 25 Troubleshooting

The Mahindra eMax 25 sub-compact utility tractor was manufactured between 2014 and 2016. The Mahindra eMax 25 driveline consists of Daedong 3C100LF three-cylinder indirect injection liquid-cooled diesel engine and two-range hydrostatic transmission. A 61.5 cubic inches (1L) engine has a cylinder bore of 2.95" (75 mm), piston stroke of 2.99" (76 mm), and rated power of 24 Hp (17.8 kW). The maximum forward speed - 10.2 mph (16.4 km/h), maximum reverse speed - 10.2 mph (16.4 km/h).

The open center hydraulic system includes a gear pump with rated fluid flow of 4.5 gpm (17 lpm). The Mahindra eMax 25 is equipped with a hydrostatic power steering system, wet disc brakes, 6.00x12 or 20x8.00-10 front tyres, and 9.50x16 or 29x12.50-15 rear tyres. The wheelbase is 57.5 inches (1460 mm). The tractor is compatible with a 60" mid-mount 3-blade side discharge Mahindra 25M mower deck with cutting height of 1-4" (25-102 mm), Mahindra ML422 front end-loader with a maximum lift height of 75.7" (1920 mm), and Mahindra eMax 25B backhoe with max digging depth of 76.3" (1940 mm).

Engine Troubleshooting
Engine hard to start or will not start

Air in the fuel system - Air bleeding.
Fuel filter plugging - Clean or change the filter.
Faulty fuel injection nozzles - Service or change injection nozzles.
Dirt or water in fuel system - Drain water or flush dirt from the system.
Incorrect valve clearance - Adjust valve clearance.
Faulty fuel injection pump - Install a new pump or rebuild.

Engine starts but stalls immediately

Air cleaner is dirty - Clean or change.
Fuel filter plugged - Replace the filter element.
Problems with fuel injection pump tightness - Inspect fuel injection pump for leaks.
Damaged or clogged injectors - Replace or clean fuel injectors.
Damaged fuel injection pump - Repair or install new pump.

Engine shuts off suddenly while running

Coolant temperature is low - Warm up the engine.
Clogged fuel filter - Clean or replace the filter.
There is air in the fuel system - Bleed the system.
Defective or clogged injection nozzle - Install a new kit of correctly balanced nozzles.
Fuel injection pump timing is not adjusted - Set it up as required.

Engine stalls while idle

Low idle speed set incorrectly - Correct the settings.
Fuel injection pump is defective - Rebuild or replace pump.
Clogged or defective injectors - Inspect fuel injectors and change as required.
Improper valve clearance - Check and adjust as required.

Engine power is insufficient

Clogged air filter element - Air filter maintenance required.
Damaged or dirty injection nozzles - Check and replace nozzles if required.
Fuel injection pressure is incorrect - Adjust to correct pressure.
Valve out of adjustment - Adjustment procedure required.
Incorrect low idle speed adjustment - Correct low idle adjustment.
Fuel lines or hoses are clogged - Clean fuel system hoses and lines.
Cylinder head gasket is damaged - Install a new gasket.
Leaking or defective piston rings - Replace the piston rings as required.

Engine is overheated

Low engine coolant - Add coolant and check the components of cooling system.
Engine oil level low - Add oil to the engine crankcase.
Defective radiator cap or clogged radiator core - Change cap or clean radiator.
Fan belt is worn or faulty - Install new fan belt.
Diesel engine is overloaded - Reduce the load or use a lower gear.

Low oil pressure

Low crankcase oil level - Add oil as required.
Clogged oil filter element - Clean or replace engine oil filter element.
Wrong oil viscosity - Use oil of proper viscosity.
Excessive oil clearance of crankshaft bearing - Bearing needs to be changed.
Worn oil pump - Repair or change.

Engine knocks or noises

Engine oil level low - Need to add engine oil.
Engine is not warmed up to the required temperature - Warm up engine as required.
Improper setting of fuel injection pump timing - Adjust according to specifications.
Incorrect low idle speed adjustment - Correct the settings.
Clogged or defective injectors - Replace or clean fuel injectors.
Faulty or misaligned connecting rod - Connecting rod needs to be aligned or changed.
Worn or broken pistons - Replace the pistons as required.

Hydrostatic Transmission Troubleshooting
HST transmission noise

Contaminated transmission fluid or low fluid level - Top up to proper level or change transmission fluid.
Speed control linkage is worn or unadjusted - Adjust or change linkage.
Relief valve failure - Replace the valve.
Transmission is under excessive load - Reduce transmission load.
Damaged or worn components of hydrostatic transmission - Change or repair defective parts.

Low power

Low fluid level - Checking transmission fluid level and add if necessary.
Relief valve malfunction - Replace valve as required.
Worn or unadjusted speed control linkage - Adjust or install new linkage.

Transmission fluid over heats

Transmission fluid insufficient - Add fluid to the transmission housing.
Transmission oil filter is clogged - Service or change transmission oil filter.
Clogged or damaged cooling components - Inspect all cooling components and service or replace if necessary.
Transmission overload - Load needs to be reduced.

Transmission fluid leaks

Broken seals or gaskets - Change defective gaskets or seal.
High internal transmission housing pressure - Change defective parts.
Clogged oil drain line - Clean or replace drain line.

Hydraulic System Troubleshooting
Hydraulic fluid pressure is insufficient

Hydraulic fluid level low - Checking hydraulic fluid level and add if necessary.
Hydraulic oil filter is clogged - Clean or change hydraulic filter.
Hydraulic pump not working - Replace or repair hydraulic oil pump.
Hydraulic control valve is set improperly - The control valve must be set correctly.
Hydraulic cylinder is defective - Install a new hydraulic cylinder or repair it.
Leaking hydraulic lines - Check the system and repair leaks.

Hydraulic system is overheated

Main relief valve failure - Relief valve must be changed.
Hydraulic fluid type is incorrect - Pour the correct type of fluid.
Contaminated hydraulic fluid - Change hydraulic fluid.
There is air in the hydraulic system - Bleed hydraulic system.

3-point hitch fails to lift or lifts slowly

Heavy load on the hitch - Load needs to be reduced.
Insufficient hydraulic oil - Need to add oil.
Dirty hydraulic fluid filter element - Clean the hydraulic filter element or replace if necessary.
Faulty hydraulic pump - Replace or repair hydraulic oil pump.
Main relief valve malfunctioning - Relief valve replacement required.
Hydraulic spool valve is faulty - Repair or change the valve.
Damaged hydraulic cylinder - Replace or repair hydraulic cylinder.
Loose or broken suction line - Tighten the pipe or replace it.

Hitch not lowering or hitch lowers slowly

Hydraulic control valve is not set properly - Adjust properly.
Hydraulic cylinder failure - Repair or install a new hydraulic cylinder.
Misadjusted hitch - Adjust the hitch.
Worn hitch cross shaft - Replace the shaft.

Jerky lifting or lowering of three-point hitch

Air in hydraulic system - Bleed air from hydraulic system.
Dirty hydraulic oil - The oil must be changed.
Hydraulic pump malfunction - Replace or repair hydraulic oil pump.
Defective hydraulic control valve block - Repair or change the valve.
Hydraulic cylinder not working - Replace or repair hydraulic cylinder.

Steering System Troubleshooting
Steering is hard

Damaged or incorrectly assembled steering column - Replace steering column or assemble correctly.
Air lock in the steering system - Need to bleed air.
Not adjusted toe-in - Check and adjust toe-in.
Uneven tire pressure - Inflate the tires properly.
Steering pump stopped working - Repair or replace steering pump.
Stuck or worn pump flow control valve - Replace or clean flow control valve.
Insufficient steering oil - Need to add steering oil.

Excessive steering wheel free play

Steering column coupling or shaft is extremely worn out - Change faulty component.
Worn steering pump - Install a new steering pump.
Worn or loose steering linkage assembly - Inspect and change as required.

Front wheels wander to left or right

Front tyres wear unevenly - Change the tyres.
Incorrect toe-in - Check toe-in and correct.
Steering linkage joints are worn or loose - Inspect and change as required.
Front wheel bearings are defective or improperly adjusted - Change or adjust bearings correctly.

Electrical System Troubleshooting
Battery is not charging

Corroded or loose electrical wire connections - Clean or tighten wiring connections.
Electrical terminal connectors are defective - Install new terminal connectors.
Bad cell in battery - Change the battery.
Loose or damaged belt - Belt needs to be adjusted or replaced.

Starter turns slowly

Low battery power - Battery needs to be recharged.
Battery will not hold charge - Battery needs to be serviced or replaced.
Terminals are faulty or battery cables are disconnected - Connect wires properly or change terminals.

Starter is not working

Battery is drained or defective - Replace or charge as required.
Wiring is improperly connected or disconnected - Check wiring and connect properly.
Low battery output voltage - Charge the battery.
Starter motor is faulty - Starter needs to be changed.
