Massey Ferguson 398 Tractor
The
Massey Ferguson 398 is a 2-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive utility tractor. This
model was manufactured from 1987 to 1991. The Massey Ferguson 398 tractor is
powered by 236 cu.in (3.9 L) Perkins AT4.236 4-cylinder direct injection
turbocharged diesel engine with a maximum power of 85 Hp (63 kW) and 319 Nm
(234.6 lb-ft) of peak torque at 1500 rpm.
The Massey Ferguson 398 is fitted with two transmission options:
synchromesh manual transmission with 12 forward and 4 reverse gears, or
2-speed power shift transmission with 12 forward and 4 reverse gears.
Max. forward speed - 18.2 mph (29.3 km/h), maximum reverse speed - 10
mph (16 km/h). The open center hydraulic system includes a gear pump
with a rated capacity of 7.5 gal/min (28.5 l/min).
The hydraulic pressure is 270 bar (3000 psi). The 2WD models are
equipped with 7.50x18 front tyres and 18.4x34 rear tyres. The 14.9x24
front tyres and 18.4x34 rear tyres fit 4WD tractors. The tractor is
compatible with a Massey Ferguson 848 front end loader with 84" (2130
mm) bucket and lift capacity to full height of 3500 lbs (1587 kg).
