John Deere 2040S Maintenance
The
John Deere 2040S is a 2-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive utility tractor. This model
was manufactured between 1981 and 1987. The JD 2040S tractor is equipped with a
John Deere 4-cycle four-cylinder diesel engine rated at 75 Hp (56 kW) and 3.90L
(239.2 cubic inches) displacement.
The maximum torque is 238 Nm (175 lb-ft) at 1300 rpm. The transmission
includes a dry disc clutch and partially synchronized gearbox with 8
forward and 4 reverse gears, or 16x8 two-speed powershift gearbox. Max.
travel speed (forward and reverse): 18.9 mph (30.4 kph) / 8.4 mph (13.6
kph).
The closed center hydraulic system used a piston pump with rated
capacity of 12.4 gal/min (47 l/min). The hydraulic pressure is 2465 psi
(170 bar). The 2WD models are equipped with 10.0x16 front tires and
16.9x34 rear tires. The 13.6x24 front tires and 16.9x34 rear tires are
used for 4WD tractors. The wheelbase is 90.2 inches (2290 mm).
