Kubota MK5000 Troubleshooting

The Kubota MK5000 compact utility tractor was manufactured between 2015 and 2017. The Kubota MK5000 driveline consists of Kubota V2403-M-DI vertical 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine and 8x8 gear shift partially synchronized transmission. A 148.5 cubic inches (2.4 L) engine has a cylinder bore of 3.43" (87 mm), piston stroke of 4.04" (102 mm), and rated power of 48.4 hp (35.6 kW). The maximum forward speed - 19 mph (30.4 km/h), maximum reverse speed - 19 mph (30.4 km/h).

The open center hydraulic system includes a gear pump with rated fluid flow of 8 gpm (30.5 lpm). The hydraulic system pressure is 180 bar (2600 psi). The Kubota MK5000 is equipped with a hydrostatic power steering, mechanical wet disc brakes, 9.50x16 or 8.00x16 front tyres, and 13.6x28 or 12.4x28 rear tyres. The wheelbase is 74.9" (1895 mm). The tractor is compatible with Kubota LA1065EC front-end loader with a lift capacity to full height of 2090 lbs (948 kg).

Engine Troubleshooting
Engine doesn't start or difficult to start
Fuel filter is clogged - Service the filter
Fuel shut-off valve closed - Open the fuel shut-off valve
Fuel-line is leaking air - Retighten clamps, replace defective pipes
Fuel injectors are clogged or faulty - Service or change fuel injectors
Fuel injection pump damage - Rebuild or replace pump
Bad engine compression - Check cylinder block and replace damaged components
Engine shuts off unexpectedly while running
Coolant temperature is low - Normalize the engine temperature
Water, dirt, or air in fuel system - Drain, flush, fill, and bleed system
Fuel injection failed - Use correct settings
Fuel filter is dirty - Clean or change the filter
Dirty or damaged injectors - Test fuel injectors and change if necessary
Diesel engine stalls after starting
Timing of fuel injection pump is wrong - Check the fuel injection pump timing setting
Clogged fuel filter element - Clean or replace the filter
Fuel injector nozzles are dirty - Inspect injector nozzles and change if required
Defective fuel injection pump - Replace or rebuild injection pump
Dirty air cleaner element - Service or replace the air cleaner
Engine stops at idle
Low idle speed setting is not correct - Adjustment required
Fuel injection pump malfunctioning - Rebuild or replace pump
Fuel injector nozzles are damaged - Check and change nozzles as required
The valve clearance is incorrect - Need to adjust valve clearance
Engine overheating
Insufficient coolant - Fill the radiator to the required level. Check the components of cooling system
Cooling system is dirty or cooling components are damaged - Replace faulty parts or service cooling system
Lack of engine oil - Checking oil level and add if necessary
Fan belt tension is incorrect or belt is defective - Change or adjust belt tension correctly
Defective thermostat - Check thermostat, replace if necessary
Diesel engine loses power
Fuel injectors are clogged or faulty - Check fuel injectors and replace if required
Fuel injection pressure is wrong - Check the fuel injection pressure and adjust if necessary
Clogged air filter element - Install new filter element or replace it
Oil filter element is dirty - Service or change engine oil filter element
Engine is under excessive load - Change to lower gear or reduce load
Incorrect valve clearance - Correct valve clearance needs to be set
Low idle speed setting is not correct - Correct the settings
Restricted fuel hoses or pipes - Clean fuel hoses and pipes
Engine lost compression: Leaking or broken valves - Install new valves

Timing of fuel injection pump is not adjusted - Adjust the fuel injection pump timing correctly
Fuel injector nozzles are clogged or faulty - Install a new set of well-balanced nozzles
Engine oil insufficient - Checking oil level and add if necessary
Engine has not warmed up to recommended temperature - Normalize the engine temperature
Crankshaft or main bearings failure - Have bearings or crankshaft replaced
Broken or defective piston rings - Piston rings need to be replaced
Loose flywheel bolts - Inspect flywheel bolts and tighten properly
Excessive oil consumption
Oil leaks: Seals or gaskets are wearing excessively - To repair leaks, replace worn parts
Incorrect oil viscosity - Fill up with the correct oil viscosity
Seized or wear piston rings - Piston rings need to be replaced
Valve stems and guides are worn - Valves must be replaced
Damaged pistons or cylinder liners - Check pistons and liners, replace as required

Electrical System Troubleshooting
Battery is not charging
Battery faulty cell - Use a new battery
Bad battery cable harness - Inspect cables for malfunctions, repair or change
Battery terminals and cables are loose or corroded - Tighten or service terminals and cables
Belt is defective or belt tension is improperly adjusted Adjust belt tension correctly or replace belt
Starter cranks slow
Battery voltage is low - Recharge the battery
Battery will not hold charge - Service charging system or install new battery
Battery electrical wire harness damage - Check battery wires for damage, replace or change
Battery terminals and cables are corroded or loose - Cables and terminals must be tightened or cleaned
Starter is not working
Battery capacity is low - Recharge the battery
Discharged or defective battery - Need to charge or replace the battery
Starter motor is defective - Starter should be replaced
Disconnected or incorrectly connected cables - Inspect battery cables and connect correctly

Transmission Troubleshooting
Difficult to shift gears
Clutch is unadjusted or worn - Adjust or replace the clutch
Gear shift linkage is loose or broken - Replace or repair the shift linkage
Bent or worn shift forks - Change the shift forks
Faulty parts in the gear shifting mechanism - Change faulty parts
Low transmission pressure
Low transmission fluid level - Add transmission fluid as required
Transmission fluid filter is dirty (if equipped) - Change or service the transmission fluid filter
Relief valve is defective - Replace relief valve as required
Excessive transmission noise
Damaged or worn bearings - Faulty bearings should be replaced
Not enough oil in transmission - Fill the transmission housing to proper oil level

Hydraulic oil is dirty - Hydraulic oil change required
Air in hydraulic system - Check the suction pipe, fittings, and pump seals
Low hydraulic fluid pressure
Hydraulic oil level is insufficient - Add oil to the hydraulic system

Hydraulic system sucks air - Check the suction pipe, fittings, and pump seals
Hydraulic oil is dirty - Hydraulic oil change required
Faulty hydraulic oil pump - Check the pump performance and replace it if required
Hydraulic control valve is defective or set improper - Replace or set properly

Steering System Troubleshooting
Heavy steering
Steering column is broken or improperly installed - Steering column must be installed properly or replaced
Air enters in steering system - Air-bleed steering system
Steering filter element is clogged - Clean or change it
Incorrect toe-in adjustment - Adjust toe-in properly
Tires are incorrectly inflated - Inflate as required
Hydraulic steering pump is defective - Check the hydraulic steering pump and change if necessary
Damaged or worn steering metering unit - Inspect and replace as required
Faulty steering box components - Replace defective components of power steering gearbox
